In defense of consoles, anyone remember the first time you were at a LAN-party, and how you spent 6 hours getting the damn IPX drivers for dos to work?

LMAO

Heres some good flamebait. PC's take more brains to work. If you can't use them right, bad stuff will happen, and you won't get the longevity that you could with it. Some possible things that could go bad if you aren't smart enough to use a PC are:

If you don't realize how bad I burned him right there... I dunno...

There are plenty of ways to keep your computer running fine for 3+ years without upgrading, but the thing with computers is that they are constantly getting better. Games keep demanding more because they can. Console games aren't forcing you to upgrade your console because you can't. If they could, they probably would. Thats also why the resolution and fps is quite terrible on consoles. I'd like to see a console get over 100 fps on ANYTHING.

It's true that PCs are better in quality in the gaming experience but are more difficult to handle (keeping it up to date and all the working of a computer) for the average "plug and play" person.. Basically if you don't know computers enough it IS a hassle and self teach yourself about some things i.e.: Graphic cards, RAM, Processor, Requirements, and terms of the computer.

Not to mention the needed upgrades for the most recent game there is for the PC. For best gaming experience you have to spend 100-300$ again for the next expensive graphics card unless you sell your old one...

For Consoles...

Well you plug and play... that's it... anything you need to learn is how to play the game or how to set up the easiness of the online gaming. Graphics will be about the same with a decent TV and no need to upgrade.. only to buy extra parts to play multiplayer or online stuff (which is pretty cheap for a keyboard, and headset).

Yet there comes the tme if something is NOT working for the system then it's basically broken... can't fix it or you might as well buy a new one. But it's likely not going to happen unless there was somthing wrong with the first batch of systems (Hmn remember cheap insides for the Xbox and bad eyes for the PS2?).

Also they were meant FOR GAMES. Sure they can do some other stuff.. but it's all for games and only games. That's why they can have a shelf life for 3-5 years if it's a good system and good games...

Games is the other thing.. I mean you have a WIDE selection of genres to play for games where as the Computer sits on some RPGs (Not counting the text-roleplay =P) FPS and Stratergy Games. Imagine going a 13 combo super hit on a keyboard on a fighter? Eh.

Yet you do have to accept the contract to getting your money's worth. Buying more games (50 bucks a pop anyone?) adds up. Nearly as much as buying that new graphics card for that computer for that one game to play for... 10-20 hours? More if it's online and/or replay value?

Speaking of graphics they're pretty much the same between console and PC.

They put out the best for the next 5 years.. well in those five years there has to be some new better graphics card for the PC correct? By then the console is old and a new one is coming out with BETTER graphics or the same as that new card for the PC.. a new system or a new card?

Basically in the end (for now) consoles were meant for gaming... period. PCs were meant to do everything else. Plus games but with better QUALITY.

I mean if you play 1-5 games for the PC and mostly post of IMs, E-mail, work, website hopping, forums, research etc... then you don't NEED to massively upgrade your computer is it's already up to date anyhow. But you Don't NEED Xbox 360, PS3 and every single game that comes out. You have other stuff to do in life... and you end up spending more money than getting it.

They're very different.. but getting closer and closer to being the same but you need both nevertheless. Depends on what you play more. It's not like you're going to abandon one for the other, right? Besides, The person who gets the game that JUST came out and and person who got it later for a smaller price will have the same reaction wether it'll be a good or bad game =P

If I do get a 360.. (maybe PS3 instead) it would be much later when it's cheaper.. within 5 years and I get it when it's in the second year... it will be cheaper and I will enjoy as much as the people who laid hands on it in the first place.

Consoles are great for the following:

1> It's a downtime thing. When you can't be on the computer due to some wierd . They are great for parties with real life friends too! Lan Parties FTW.

2>They offer such a much more in-depth selection of video games. Granted, the PC has some GREAT titles, don't get me wrong, but I can't even imagine trying to play Soul Calibur 2 on a PC..ugh, just like I couldn't imagine playing guild wars on a console. Consoles are great for that time when you just feel bored with the same old repetitiveness. It's a nice break.

3> And you really can't even compare the two, as they REALLY are two different means alltogether. You couldn't say "well, at least my computer lets me play totally alone.." or "Computer: Great for that downtime!" as much as you can say "Consoles are teh great! Better then computers" ...They just aren't comparable. Consoles are made solely for Video Games with DVD's being a plus. Computers are made solely to be a datastorage device, or a way to contact others through the "world wide web" They have two different purposes. One is for pure entertainment and ones have more practical uses like schoolwork/jobs/gaming

There it is. My 2 cents.

If they made PCs controller compatible, I think we'd have less sales in consoles. Premier, exclusive, and quick gaming is what we expect from a console. And controllers>mouse+keyboard (if you don't account learning curve). There are easy comparisons and contrasts you can find on the net.

Their are games designed for Computers and games designed for Consoles...

Dont try to intermix the two.

There are games I'd never play on one and ones I'd never play on the other.
